PRESTONSBURG – Sophomore Colin Litteral pitched a one-hit shutout to lead Magoffin County over Jenkins 14-0 in five innings in the Prestonsburg-hosted StoneCrest Baseball Classic on Friday, April 30.
Litteral recorded six strikeouts while throwing 56 pitches.
Magoffin County moved ahead early and never trailed. The Hornets pulled away to win convincingly over 15th Region rival Jenkins.
Magoffin County plated 14 runs on 14 hits in the shutout win.
Kaden Back (2-for-3, two RBIs), Caleb Howard (2-for-3, one RBI), Ethan Salyer (2-for-3, one RBI), Lucas Litteral (2-for-4, two RBIs), Trenton Coleman (2-for-4, one RBI), Ian Prewitt (2-for-3), Colin Litteral (1-for-3, one RBI) and Grant Rudd (1-for-3, one RBI) delivered offensively for the Hornets.
Howard, Coleman and Rudd each doubled for the Hornets in the shutout win.
Magoffin County and Jenkins, 15th Region rivals, met for the first time in the 2021 high school baseball season. Jenkins is a former member of the 14th Region.
The Hornets returned to the win column following back-to-back 57th District losses to Johnson Central.
The StoneCrest Baseball Class was held Friday, April 30-Saturday, May 1.
