Edwin Carter Conley, age 71, a resident of Rockhouse Subdivision in Salyersville, Kentucky; passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, after a lengthy battle with COVID-19.
Carter was born June 23, 1950, in Salyersville, Kentucky the son of Robert Edwin and Lillian J. Johnson Conley. Son, Joe David “JD” Conley also preceded him in death.
Carter was a graduate of Magoffin County High School and the University of Kentucky. He served Magoffin County and the surrounding area as Magoffin County Rescue Squad founding member and Chief. He was a member of the Magoffin County Masonic Lodge #769 F&AM and Salyersville Methodist Church.
Carter was a public servant and dedicated his life to serving Magoffin County and its surrounding areas. He was an avid UK fan and enjoyed cheering on his beloved Wildcats.
Those left to mourn includes wife of thirty-eight years, Vivian Lykins Conley of Salyersville, Kentucky, son, Robert Carter Conley and wife Veronica of Morehead, Kentucky, grandchildren, Ryliegh Addysen Nikol Conley of Morehead, Kentucky, special grandchildren, Lillie Clare Howard, Drake Joseph Combs, Grayson Colt Young, Carsyn David Allen Bowling, sister, Connie Akers of Allen, Kentucky, a host of family and friends who love and miss him.
Funeral services for Edwin Carter Conley will be conducted Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 1:00 PM from the Magoffin County High School Gymnasium in Salyersville, Kentucky. Clergy Bob Dixon, John Blanton, Jack Howard, and Randy Woods will deliver comforting words on the day of service. Masonic Rites were given by the Magoffin County Masonic Lodge #769 F&AM on Wednesday evening. Contributions can be made to the Magoffin Co. Rescue Squad and the Carter Conley Memorial Fund. Face masks are required by the Magoffin Co. Board of Education for public safety.
