Eula Mae Hackworth age 93 went to be with the Lord on Sunday October 9, 2022. Eula was a lifelong resident of Ivyton/Burning Fork, Salyersville, KY. She was born June 20, 1929 to Caroline Brown Sparks and Marion Sparks of Ivyton, KY.
Eula married Henry Graver Hackworth on November 23, 1953 and was married for thirty-three years until Garver’s death in 1986.
Eula had six children, two who preceded her in death: Donald Ray Sparks, and Larry Garver Hackworth.
Surviving children: Timothy Jay (Debbie) Hackworth, Salyersville, KY, Darrell Keith Hackworth, Salyersville, KY, Ruth Ann Hackworth, Ashland, KY, and Joann Howes, Salyersville, KY.
Eula was blessed with nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
Eula was saved and baptized on April 27, 1986 and is a member of Bradley Freewill Baptist Church.
Eula’s children would like to express a “special thanks” to those whose friendship and help allowed Eula to remain in her home for the past two years: Sally Howes, Mary Castle, Jill Whitaker, and Heather Jordon. Also, to Courtney Sowards, Tiffany Burton, and other caregivers at Windsor Care Center, Mt. Sterling, KY who have cared for her these past few months.
Eula was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, farmer, gardener, excellent cook, talented quilter, and an avid UK basketball fan. She was one of a kind and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A private graveside service was held Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Hackworth Family Cemetery with Demmie Marshall officiating and Jackie Prater singing. Eula’s very special nephew, Roger Dyer, read the eulogy.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
