SALYERSVILLE — Four Magoffin County players batted over .400 during the 2022 high school softball season.

Junior Jaylynn Lafferty batted a team-high .455 for the Lady Hornets. Lafferty was among the most underrated players in the 15th Region during the 2022 high school softball season.

Ranking second in hitting for Magoffin County, sophomore Jaden Williams batted .446. Williams was among the top pitchers in the 15th Region throughout the 2022 high school softball season, limiting opposing batters in numerous appearances.

Behind Williams, junior Katie Howard batted .423 for the Lady Hornets. Lafferty and Howard each collected 30 hits.

Sophomore Scarlett McCarty logged a team-high 75 at-bats for Magoffin County, batting .413. McCarty connected for a team-best 31 hits.

As a team, Magoffin County, under the direction of veteran head coach Tony Skaggs, batted .343.

The Lady Hornets scored 153 runs in 21 games during the 2022 high school softball season.

Magoffin County, following a loss to Paintsville in the semifinals of the 57th District Softball Tournament, exited the 2022 season 10-11.

Despite falling in the district tournament, former 15th Region champion Magoffin County is expected to be reloaded for the 2023 high school softball season.
