HORNET BASKETBALL FACTS
In the history of the school (including when it was Salyersville High School), this is the first time the Magoffin County High School boys’ basketball team has ever won the region.
Magoffin has played in the regional championship three other times:
1984 – lost to Johnson Central on a buzzer-beater in Virgie
1995 – lost to Paintsville High School
1996 – lost to Paintsville High School, who went on to be state champions that year
Coach Scott Castle, in 2013, led the Hornets to win the regional All-A tournament for a chance to play in the state All-A tournament.
In 2023, Coach Castle and the Hornets won the 2A-Section 8 Regional Tournament, to go to the state 2A tournament. They did lose in first round to Mason County, but Aden Barnett set the tournament single game scoring record of 34 points.

The link to purchase tickets in the pep section, which will be sections 38, 39, 40 and 41, can be found by clicking here. These are located behind the goal, so if anyone wants seats with a better view of the court, tickets can be purchased directly from Ticketmaster.
T-Shirts
MCHS is expecting t-shirts to be delivered on Monday, March 18. All students will receive one for free, sponsored in part by UPike. People will be able to buy the shirts at tables set up at the front of the high school on Monday and Tuesday next week. Shirts will be available in sizes up to 4X and will be $15 each.

My memory may not be right but I have always believed they went in 1963. Could someone please check that for me?
