Hornets average nearly 35 points per game

The Hornets scored 36 or more points in four of six games during the shortened 2020 high school football regular season.

Senior quarterback Lucas Litteral leads a solid aerial attack for the Hornets. Through six games, Litteral has completed 70 of 151 passes for 1,234 yards and 16 touchdowns. Litteral has thrown five interceptions.

Sophomore athlete Aden Barnett has completed two of three passes for 42 yards while throwing one interception.

Productive on the ground and through the air, Litteral has rushed 37 times for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Litteral is among the state’s most underrated high school football quarterbacks.

Leading Magoffin County in rushing, Caleb Howard has rushed 19 times for 183 yards.

Ranking third in the key offensive category for Magoffin County, Barnett has rushed 19 times for 129 yards and three touchdowns.

Eight different Magoffin County receivers have combined to haul in 72 receptions for 1,276 yards and 16 touchdowns thus far in the 2020 high school football season.

Barnett leads the Hornets in receiving. The sophomore athlete has reeled in 24 receptions for 434 yards and seven touchdowns.

Following Barnett, Brad Standifer has hauled in 19 receptions for 414 yards and three touchdowns for the Hornets.

Third in receiving for Magoffin County, freshman athlete Grayson Whitaker has reeled in nine receptions for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Whitaker is among the area’s top freshmen.

Magoffin County scored 50-plus points in two games during the 2020 high school football regular season. The Hornets erupted for a season-high 56 points in a non-district win over familiar rival Martin County on Friday, Sept. 18.
