SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County competed in the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Number one seed Johnson Central defeated Magoffin County 78-51 in the opening game of the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament.
Johnson Central forced Magoffin County to play from behind during the postseason matchup.
Following the loss, defending 15th Region boys’ basketball champion Magoffin County dropped to 6-21. Magoffin County will compete in a 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament play-in game later in the week.
With the win, Johnson Central improved to 15-9. Johnson Central was set to vie for the 57th District boys’ basketball title at press time.
In the second game of the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament, Martin County topped Paintsville 77-63.
Johnson Central and Martin County are slated to meet in the 57th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament Championship Game at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.
