SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is contributing to the flood relief efforts in Eastern Kentucky.
Currently, the Magoffin County football team is collecting items to fill its equipment trailer. The Hornets plan to deliver items collected to the Breathitt County football team on Saturday, Aug. 6.
Breathitt County experienced flooding in late-July.
“We continue to pray and reach out to those who have lost so much,” said Magoffin County Head Football Coach John DeRossett. “We want to do our part to help. We have our equipment trailer ready for donations and want to take items to the Breathitt County football team.”
The Magoffin County football team is currently accepting towels/wash cloths, athletic socks, T-shirts (various sizes), bottled water, Gatorade, snacks, school clothes, toiletries (razors, after shave, shave cream, deodorant), cleats and school shoes.
High water has limited the Hornets throughout the preseason. Magoffin County was able to resume practice on Tuesday, Aug. 2.
The Hornets are scheduled to visit Breathitt County for a season opener on Friday, Aug. 19.
