LICK CREEK — Returning to the win column, Magoffin County defeated 15th Region rival East Ridge 79-70 on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Magoffin County notched its second win in three games.
Walker Russell paced Magoffin County, recording a double-double for the Hornets. Russell scored 30 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Along with Russell reaching double figures for Magoffin County, Michael Trusty scored 15 points and Parker Bowling netted 12 points.
In addition to the three scorers in double figures, Tayte Hall (six points), Dason Burchett (six points), Jackson Gilliland (five points) and Noah Gibson (five points) produced offensively for the Hornets.
Carter Damron paced East Ridge, pouring in a game-high 33 points for the Warriors. Damron drained five of 12 three-point field goal attempts.
Accompanying Damron in double figures for East Ridge, Talon Hopkins netted 13 points.
Eight players provided scoring for the Warriors. Canaan Ramey (seven points), Keegan Wallace (five points), Brayden Wilson (five points), Gage May (three points), Kaden McCoy (two points) and Peyton Coleman (two points) were East Ridge’s additional scorers.
