Hornets to compete in Raceland tournament

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County will compete in the Raceland 7-on-7 Passing Tournament on Friday, July 14.

High school football programs from three different states will compete in the Raceland 7-on-7 Passing Tournament.

The passing tournament will be split into two sessions and include several area programs, some of which have entered two teams.

The entry fee for the high school football passing tournament is $50 per team or $75 for two squads.

The a.m. session will include Magoffin County, Raceland, Prestonsburg, Paintsville, Fleming County 1, Fleming County 2, Ashland 1 and Ashland 2.

The p.m. session will include Magoffin County, Huntington (W.Va.) 1, Huntington (W.Va.) 2, Fairland (Ohio), Bath County, Lawrence County, Wheelersburg (Ohio) 1 and Wheelersburg (Ohio) 2.

The games will be played on the turf field inside Raceland’s stadium.

Three different quarterbacks attempted passes for Magoffin County during the 2022 high school football season. Aden Barnett led Magoffin County’s ariel attack, completing 44 passes for 747 yards and nine touchdowns. In addition to Barnett, Dason Burchett and Brock Montgomery completed passes for Magoffin County in 2022.
Several experienced receivers are set to return for Magoffin County in the 2022 high school football season.

The Hornets will open preseason practice at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 10.
