SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County is slated to host former district rival Breathitt County for an opener in the 2021 high school football season on Friday, Aug. 20.
The Hornets’ 2021 schedule has been finalized and released. Magoffin County will have six home games during the 2021 high school football season.
The Hornets have additional home games on tap versus Knott County Central, Floyd Central, Pike County Central, Clay County and Morgan County.
Magoffin County has away games scheduled against Prestonsburg, Bellevue, Lawrence County and Belfry.
The Hornets compete with Lawrence County, Belfry, Floyd Central and Pike County Central in Class 3A, District 8.
Following an appearance in the Class 3A Playoffs, Magoffin County exited the 2020 season 3-4.
Under the direction of head coach Chris Gamble, Magoffin County will open preseason practice in mid-July. The Hornets will start preseason practice shortly after the conclusion of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Dead Period.
Numerous experienced players and proven playmakers are headed back to the gridiron for the Hornets.
