SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is scheduled to meet Jenkins in the second game of the 15th Region Challenge at Johnson Central at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22.
Unfamiliar foes, Magoffin County and Jenkins aren’t scheduled to meet in the 2025-26 boys’ high school basketball regular season.
Magoffin County competes in the 57th District and the 15th Region.
Jenkins competes in the 53rd District and the 14th Region.
Magoffin County, under the direction of Coach Scott Castle, opened preseason practice in mid-October.
Several experienced players are back on the court for former 15th Region boys’ basketball champion Magoffin County.
The Hornets compiled a 7-22 record in the 2024-25 boys’ high school basketball season. Prior to suffering a season-ending loss to Phelos, Magoffin County notched a win over East Ridge in the 2024-25 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament.
The Cavaliers showed improvement throughout the 2024-25 boys’ high school basketball season, compiling a 26-5 record. Jenkins is the reigning 53rd District boys’ basketball champion. After capturing the 2024-25 53rd District title, Jenkins made an appearance in last season’s 14th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament. Powell County outlasted Jenkins in overtime in the opening round of the 2024-25 14th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament.
Magoffin County is slated to visit Phelps for its opening game in the 2025-26 boys’ high school basketball season on Monday, Dec. 1.
