SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County is matched up against 14th Region member Knott County Central in the DJ Begley Basketball Classic.
The Hornets and Patriots are slated to meet in the DJ Begley Classic at Pike County Central on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Magoffin County-Knott County Central game is set to tip off at 8 p.m.
The Hornets and Patriots did not meet during the 2024-25 boys’ high school basketball season. Magoffin County and Knott County Central haven’t met since 2017. The Hornets and Patriots split a pair of games during the 2026-17 boys’ high school basketball season.
Magoffin County compiled a 7-22 record in the 2024-25 boys’ high school basketball season, one campaign after finishing as the 15th Region’s top team. The Hornets won the 2023-24 15th Region boys’ basketball title.

Knott County Central put together a 19-12 record in the 2024-25 boys’ high school basketball season. The Patriots finished runner-up in the 53rd District one season ago.
