INEZ — Magoffin County pulled away to defeat longtime rival Martin County 22-12 in five innings in a 57th District softball game on Friday, May 9.
The win allowed Magoffin County to sweep Martin County in a 57th District softball series.
Ava Hensley pitched a complete game for Magoffin County and earned the win in the circle. Hensley logged two strikeouts in her pitching outing.
Magoffin County benefitted from a balanced offensive attack. Each payer in Magoffin County’s lineup made an impact at the plate. Magoffin County scored 22 runs on 19 hits. A productive lineup for Magoffin County was comprised of Hensley (one RBI), Macy Williams (four hits, four RBIs), Abby Barnett (four hits, three RBIs), Bella Trusty (four hits, two RBIs), Lucy Whitaker (three hits, one RBI), Kiley Lemaster (one hit, three RBIs), Kailyn Arnett (one hit, one RBI), Maci Minix (one hit, one RBI) and Kayda Carr (one hit). Supplying two extra-base hits, Barnett doubled twice for the Lady Hornets.
The 22 runs is a single game season-high for Magoffin County, which has shown improvement throughout its latest campaign.
