SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County defeated rival Morgan County 14-10 in an early-season high school softball game on Thursday, March 20.
The Lady Hornets connected for a dozen hits in the matchup. Magoffin County registered its first win in the 2025 high school softball season.
Ava Hensley pitched a complete game for Magoffin County and earned the win in the circle. Hensley recorded 11 strikeouts.
Magoffin County scored 14 runs on 12 hits as part of a diverse offensive attack. Jaycie Wells (three hits, four RBIs), Katie Carty (three hits, three RBIs), Abby Barnett (two hits, two RBIs), Kiley Lemaster (one hit, one RBI), Macy Williams (one hit, one RBI), Bella Trusty (one hit) and Baylee Hatfield (one hit) each contributed offensively for the Lady Hornets. Barnett homered while Carty doubled twice.
The Lady Hornets are scheduled to visit Morgan County for a game in the second half of the 2025 high school softball season on Friday, May 2.
