Lady Hornets drop home match to Morgan County

SALYERSVILLE — In a battle of longtime rivals, Morgan County outlasted host Magoffin County 3-2 on Tuesday, Sept. 16.

The two familiar foes met for the first time in the 2025 girls’ high school volleyball season.

Following the loss, Magoffin County slipped to 1-6.

Each team owned momentum during the girls’ high school volleyball match. Morgan County overcame a slow start to win 17-25, 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 18-16.

Complete individual statistics from the Magoffin County-Morgan County girls’ volleyball match were unavailable at press time.

The Lady Hornets are scheduled to visit Morgan County for a late-season match on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Magoffin County is scheduled to host Owsley County for its next match on Thursday, Sept. 18. The Lady Hornets have additional regular season matches remaining versus June Buchanan, Lee County, Jackson City, Menifee County and Paintsville.

Magoffin County will enter the girls’ high school volleyball postseason in mid-October.
