INEZ — Magoffin County overcame a slow start to knock off Martin County 3-2 in a 57th District volleyball match on Monday, Sept. 26.
Continuing to show improvement on the court, Magoffin County notched its second straight win.
The Lady Hornets defeated Martin County 20-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-22, 16-14 in the 57th District match.
Alyssa Torices (7 kills, 4 blocks, 1 assist, 23 digs, 4 service aces), Carlee Adams (28 digs), Allie Rodriguez (1 kill, 1 assist, 24 digs, 2 service aces), McKenzie Young (7 kills, 3 blocks, 16 digs, 1 service ace), Makenna Jordan (7 kills, 1 block, 8 assists, 28 digs, 5 service aces), Alison Cantrell (3 kills, 2 digs), Abby Barnett (10 digs), Avery Preston (1 block, 12 assists, 3 digs), Mackenzie Elkins (7 assists, 7 digs, 2 service aces), Carley Allen (7 kills, 2 blocks, 4 digs, 2 service aces) and Daylin Patrick (10 digs) were each instrumental for Magoffin County in the district win.
The Lady Hornets claimed the win after dropping a five-set match to Martin County one week earlier.
Both Magoffin County and Martin County will compete in the 57th District Volleyball Tournament later in the month.
