SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County outlasted Paintsville 5-4 in a 57th District softball game on Monday, April 28.
Following the win, Magoffin County improved to 8-10 overall and 1-2 in the 57th District.
Ava Hensley pitched a complete game for Magoffin County and earned the win in the circle. Hensley held Paintsville to four runs on three hits while allowing eight walks and recording four strikeouts.
Molly Music pitched a complete game for Paintsville and suffered the loss in the circle. Music recorded 14 strikeouts in her team’s setback.
Magoffin County scored five runs on six hits. Macy Williams (two hits), Maci Minix (one hit, one RBI), Baylee Hayfield (one hit, one RBI), Abby Barnett (one hit, one RBI) and Kiley Lemaster (one hit) each produced offensively for Magoffin County in its victory. Providing a lift at the plate for Magoffin County, Barnett homered.
Magoffin County and Paintsville met for the first time in the 2025 high school softball season.
After the conclusion of the regular season, both Magoffin County and Paintsville will compete in the 57th District Softball Tournament. Magoffin County is slated to host the 57th District Softball Tournament later in the month.
