Lady Hornets roll past Elliott County for fifth straight win

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County rolled past Elliott County for its fifth straight win on Saturday, Jan. 10.

The Lady Hornets defeated Elliott County 62-6.

With the win, Magoffin County evened its record to 7-7.

Magoffin County shot 40.0 percent (26-of-65) from the field. The Lady Hornets made seven of 25 three-point field goal attempts.

Magoffin County connected on three of five foul shots in the matchup.

Presley Russell scored a team-high 11 points for the Lady Hornets.

Following Russell in Magoffin County’s scoring column, Karli Sites netted 10 points. Site recorded a double-double, clearing out 10 rebounds.

Finishing near double figures, Bella Trusty netted nine points for the Lady Hornets.

Magoffin County featured 11 different scorers. The additional scorers for Magoffin County were Kelsey Slone (seven points), Emily Sluss (seven points), Autumn Brown (six points), Macy Williams (four points), Jaylee Reed (three points), Sophia Allgood (two points), Abby Barnett (two points) and Jerrica Reed (one point).

Offensively for Elliott County, Chloe Rose (four points) and Laney Cook (two points) each scored.

Magoffin County notched its second win over Elliott County in the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season.
