SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County has surpassed its win total from the 2024-25 girls’ high school basketball season.
Currently, Magoffin County is 7-10. The Lady Hornets have registered wins over Belfry, Elliott County, Pike County Central, Shelby Valley, Perry County Central and Phelps thus far in the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season. Magoffin County has notched a pair of wins over Elliott County in the current prep hoops campaign.
Much-improved Magoffin County rolled past Elliott County 62-6 for its seventh win on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Magoffin County compiled a 6-23 record in the 2024-25 girls’ high school basketball season.
The Lady Hornets, under the direction of Coach Justin Williams, entered the week with regular season games remaining versus Paintsville, Buckhorn, Shelby Valley, Martin County, Floyd Central, Lawrence County, Prestonsburg, Johnson Central, East Carter and Betsy Layne.
At the conclusion of the regular season, Magoffin County will compete the 57th District Girls’ Basketball Tournament.
Players Abby Barnett, Macy Williams, Bella Trusty, Kelsey Slone, Jaylee Reed, Emily Sluss, Karli Sites, Jerrica Reed, Presley Russell, Karly Jenkins, Autumn Brown, Annabella Allgood and Sophia Allgood have each contributed for Magoffin County in the current girls’ high school basketball season, which tipped off less than two months ago.
