Lady Hornets to compete in inaugural Raymond Justice Classic

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County will meet host Belfry in the lone girls’ high school basketball game as part of the Raymond Justice Classic on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

Tip-off for the Magoffin County-Belfry girls’ basketball game is slated for 2 p.m.

The event will honor Raymond Justice, who is the Belfry boys’ basketball program’s all-time winningest head coach. During his coaching tenure, Justice recorded 235 career wins. Justice guided Belfry to three 15th Region boys’ basketball championships. He coached the Pirates from 1987-1999.

A special presentation will be held between the last two games of the Raymond Justice Classic.

Currently, Magoffin County is preparing to compete in the 2025-26 girls’ high school basketball season. The Lady Hornets are scheduled to visit Powell County for a 2025-26 season opener on Monday, Dec. 1.

The schedule for the Raymond Justice Classic follows.

Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026
2 p.m. – Belfry vs. Magoffin County (Girls’ Basketball)
4 p.m. – Phelps vs. Knox Central (Boys’ Basketball)
6 p.m. – Hazard vs. Betsy Layne (Boys’ Basketball)
8 p.m. – Belfry vs. Prestonsburg (Boys’ Basketball)
