SALYERSVILLE – Senior quarterback Lucas Litteral continued his offensive onslaught in a Class 3A, District 8 game versus visiting Pike County Central on Friday, Oct. 15 and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down any time soon in the 2021 high school football season.
In six games, Litteral has completed 61 of 120 passes for 1,383 yards and 14 touchdowns. During the same stretch, Litteral has rushed 70 times for 443 yards and nine touchdowns.
Among the state’s most underrated high school football quarterbacks, Litteral is averaging 230.5 passing yards game.
Athlete Aden Barnett leads the Hornets in receiving, Barnett has hauled in 21 receptions for 687 yards and nine touchdowns.
Following Barnett, veteran receiver Brad Standifer has reeled in 17 receptions for 353 yards and three touchdowns for the Hornets.
Another reliable receiver for Magoffin County, Grayson Whitaker has grabbed 14 receptions for 245 yards and two touchdowns.
As a team, Magoffin County has rushed 178 times for 988 yards and 17 touchdowns. Ranking second in rushing for the Hornets, Barnett has rushed 23 times for 242 yards and five touchdowns.
Chipping in on the ground for the Hornets, Ben Lafferty has rushed 21 times for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
Leading Magoffin County defensively, Curtis Jenkins has recorded a team-high 70 tackles.
Helping to pace Magoffin County defensively, Lafferty leads the Hornets in tackles for a loss (10), sacks (7) and interceptions (2).
The Hornets are scheduled to host Clay County for a non-district game on Friday. Oct. 22.
