Magoffin County competes in KHSAA Class 2A State Championship

The cross country team ran at the KHSAA 2A State Championships on Saturday, November 1 at 12:30. The team placed 33rd in the state and had their best times of the season. Senior Matthew Hall once again led the team finishing with a time of 21:17 followed by Colton Boyd, 23:44; Sullivan Rice, 24:09; Jason Yates, 25:19; JP Owens, 25:31; Dalton Wallen, 26:44; and Cameron Rudd, 27:43. LEXINGTON — Magoffin County competed in the KHSAA Class 2A State Cross Country Championship at the Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The Hornets placed 33rd in the KHSAA Class 2A State Cross Country Championship Boys’ Team Standings.

Magoffin County advanced to the state event after its performance in the KHSAA Class 2A, Region 7 Cross Country Meet.

Seven different runners competed for Magoffin County during the KHSAA Class 2A State Cross Country Championship.

Multiple runners excelled for the Hornets during the 2025 high school cross country season.

KHSAA Class 2A State Cross Country Championship Boys’ 5,000 Meter Run: 206th – Matthew Hall, 21:17.75; 241st – Colton Boyd, 23:43.70; 245th – Sullivan Rice, 24:09.85; 252nd – Jason Yates, 25:19.66; 253rd – JP Owens, 25:31.75; 255th – Dalton Wallen, 26:44.41; 259th – Cameron Rudd, 27:43.17.
