Magoffin County drops home game to Raceland

SALYERSVILLE — Raceland prevented Magoffin County from returning to the win column, defeating the Lady Hornets 69-45 on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Magoffin County slipped to 6-16 after suffering the loss.

Raceland, which gradually pulled away for the win, shot 35.3 percent (24-of-68) from the field. The Lady Rams made seven of 30 three-point field goal attempts.

Raceland shot 70.0 percent (seven-of-10) from the free throw line.

Allayson Rigsby recorded a game-high double-double for Raceland, scoring 21 points and hauling in 15 rebounds.

Accompanying Rigsby in double figures for Raceland, Naomi Maynard scored 20 points and Brookelynn Campbell netted 14 points.

Raceland’s offensive attack featured eight different scorers. The other scorers for Raceland were Sophia Maynard (seven points), Annie Lyon (two points), Alexis Boggs (two points), Laura Short (two points) and Emma Broughton (one point).

Magoffin County shot 40.5 percent (16-of-37) from the field. The Lady Hornets made four of 14 three-point field goal attempts.

Magoffin County shot 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from the free throw line.

Macy Williams paced Magoffin County, scoring 17 points for the Lady Hornets.

Accompanying Williams in double figures for Magoffin County, Bella Trusty netted 12 points.

Along with the two scorers in double figures, Abby Barnett (four points), Jerrica Reed (four points), Maddie Salyer (four points), Karly Jenkins (two points) and Emily Sluss (two points) produced offensively for the Lady Hornets.

Barnett delivered inside for Magoffin County, corralling seven rebounds.
