SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County has finalized its schedule for the 2024 high school football season.
For the second straight year, Magoffin County will kick off its season versus Montgomery County in the Recreation Bowl.
The Hornets and Indians are slated to meet in the Recreation Bowl on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Magoffin County is scheduled to host Lewis County for a home opener on Friday, Aug. 30.
The Hornets have additional away games on tap versus Leslie County, Martin County, Belfry, Powell County and Morgan County.
Magoffin County is due to host Russell, Lawrence County and Estill County for its other home games. The Hornets will welcome in Russell for Homecoming on Friday, Sept. 13.
Magoffin County competes in Class 3A, District 8. The Hornets, under the direction of Coach John DeRossett, advanced to the 2023 KHSAA Class 3A State Football Playoffs. Magoffin County compiled a 4-7 overall record in the 2023 high school football season.
The Hornets will open preseason practice in July.
