EASTERN — The Magoffin County teams were among the squads competing in the 2024-25 2A, Section 8 basketball tournaments, which were held in Floyd County.
Each Magoffin County basketball team competed in a 2A, Section 8 tournament game at J.E. Campbell Arena in Floyd County on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Perry County Central defeated Magoffin County 51-38 in the 2A, Section 8 Girls’ Basketball Tournament. Despite suffering the loss, Magoffin County showed improvement in the girls’ high school basketball tournament matchup.
Pike County Central pulled away to defeat Magoffin County 90-57 in the 2A, Section 8 Boys’ Basketball Tournament.
Floyd Central hosted the 2A, Section 8 basketball tournaments.
Currently, 2A is split into 8 sections. The alignment for Section 8 is as follows:
Floyd Central, Johnson Central, Lawrence County, Letcher County Central, Magoffin County, Pike County Central, Perry County Central.
