Magoffin County to compete in new-look district

SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County will compete in a new-look Class 3A, District 8 during the 2025 high school football season.

Currently, Class 3A, District 8 is comprised of Magoffin County, Belfry, Estill County, Lawrence County and Powell County.

However, via realignment from the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA), Belfry is dropping down to Class 2A.

Dropping down from Class 4A, Letcher County Central will replace Belfry in Class 3A, District 8.

Beginning in 2025, Class 3A, District 8 will be comprised of Magoffin County, Letcher County Central, Estill County, Lawrence County and Powell County.

The Class 3A alignment for the 2025 high school football season follows.

Class 3A
District 1 – Hopkins County Central, Murray, Union County, Webster County.

District 2 – Adair County, Butler County, Edmonson County, Glasgow, Hart County, LaRue County.

District 3 – Central, Christian Academy-Louisville, DeSales, Thomas Nelson, Western.

District 4 – Bardstown, Casey County, Garrard County, Lexington Catholic, Mercer County.

District 5 – Bourbon County, Carroll County, Henry County, Lloyd Memorial, Pendleton County.

District 6 – Bath County, East Carter, Fleming County, Lewis County, Russell.

District 7 – Bell County, Clay County, Knox Central, McCreary Central, Rockcastle County.

District 8 – Estill County, Lawrence County, Letcher County Central, Magoffin County, Powell County
