Man dies with stab wound

SALYERSVILLE – A Salyersville man was pronounced deceased on Coal Branch last Wednesday evening after suffering a fatal stab wound.

According to police reports from Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post, KSP received a call from the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office on March 17 regarding an unresponsive male in Magoffin County.

KSP investigators responded to a residence on Coal Branch Road and discovered a male had been stabbed, with the initial investigation indicating Jamie Bailey, 41 years old, of Salyersville (formerly of Campton), had suffered a fatal stab wound while at his residence on Coal Branch Road.

Bailey was pronounced deceased at the scene by Magoffin County Coroner’s Office.

The case is still considered a death investigation and Bailey’s body was sent to Louisville for an autopsy, which is pending at press time.

Officials confirmed to Mortimer Media Group a kitchen knife had been recovered from the residence.

KSP Detective Dustin Thompson is leading the investigation and was assisted on scene by KSP personnel, Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office, Salyersville Police Department and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.

The Independent will release information about this case as it becomes available.
