BELFRY — The Magoffin County cheerleading team finished runner-up in the Large Division of the Region 8 Cheer Competition at Belfry High School on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Numerous area cheerleading squads competed in the region event. Magoffin County turned in a solid performance to finish runner-up in its division.
Following the runner-up finish, Magoffin County advances to the state competition.
The results from the Region 8 Cheer Competition follow.
Small Division: Champion – Pikeville, Runner-up – Russell.
Medium Division: Champion – Greenup County, Runner-up – Lawrence County.
Large Division: Champion – Pike County Central, Runner-up – Magoffin County.
Gameday Small Division: Champion – Floyd Central, Runner-up – Rowan County.
Gameday Large Division: Champion – Belfry, Runner-up – West Carter.
Co-Ed Division: Champion – Shelby Valley.
