CONGRATULATIONS to HWMS Robotics for their hard work and preparation at the First Lego League State Competiton at NKU over the weekend. It is a HUGE accomplishment to make it to STATE Competition where they present their 30 minute Innovation Project in front of a panel of judges (75% of their score) and compete in 3 rounds of robot game matches (25% of their score.)
The FIRST LEGO League Challenge is a global STEM program that introduces children to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through hands-on learning. The program encourages students to develop skills that are important for future careers.
The FIRST Core Values are the cornerstones of the program. They are among the fundamental elements that distinguish FIRST LEGO League from other programs of its kind.
By embracing the Core Values, participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.
Congratulations to the Aqua Hornets who competed and worked through many robot obstacles on the field and also did a wonderful job presenting their Innovation Project on Ocean Acidification!!
Congratulations to the Coastal Queens who received a 2nd place Champions Award and advanced to a National Invitational Competition this spring! Their innovation project was on Ocean Floor Mapping.
North Magoffin Elementary
North Magoffin Elementary’s Robotics Team advanced to the state tournament at Northern Kentucky University for the second consecutive year! This hardworking second-year team has shown incredible dedication and growth.
Last year, they earned the Motivate Award, and this year, they brought home the Breakthrough Award, a testament to their perseverance and innovation.
According to the FIRST LEGO League website, the Breakthrough Award “celebrates a team that made significant progress in their confidence and capability in both the Robot Game and Innovation Project and are a shining example of excellent Core Values. They demonstrate that they understand that what they discover is more important than what they win.”
We are beyond proud of our team’s achievements and can’t wait to see what the future holds for North Magoffin Robotics!
