SALYERSVILLE – Police are investigating a wreck that occurred early Friday morning that is seemingly tied to a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Around 2 a.m. on December 4 Salyersville Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle.

While SPD Officer Jeremiah Watson was still investigating that case, they were also dispatched to the scene of a one-vehicle wreck on KY Rt. 7, just past Lora Lee’s Country Buffet.

The 1992 Jeep Laredo, which was the same vehicle that had been reported stolen 15 minutes earlier, was laying on its top in the northbound lane. Watson told the Independent it appeared that the vehicle had hit the ditch, hit a rock/dirt embankment, then rolled over onto its top. There was no one near the vehicle when police arrived and no one went to any of the local hospitals with injuries consistent with the wreck.

The stolen vehicle case and the wreck are still under investigation by the Salyersville Police Department.
