SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County sixth grader Kolton Risner was named the MVP of the Diamond All-American Bowl in Orlando, Fla., over Memorial Day Weekend.
In all, 50 of the top athletes from across the nation were invited to play in the prestigious youth football game. Risner, who is headed into his seventh grade season with the Herald Whitaker Middle School football program, rushed for three touchdowns. The Magoffin County standout excelled throughout the game, both on the ground and through the air. Risner amassed nearly 150 yards in rushing and receiving.
Among the state’s top middle school football players, Risner can make an impact on offense, defense and special teams regularly. One of the fastest middle school football players in the state, Risner is preparing for his seventh grade season.
