FORT PIERCE, Fla. — Presley Smith is thriving as a junior college softball player.
A former Magoffin County High School student-athlete, Smith was batting .432 with two home runs, 12 RBIs, nine runs and four stolen bases through her first 11 games with the Indian River State College softball team.
A native of Salyersville, Smith is a freshman utility player for the Pioneers.
After moving to Florida, Smith was a member of Lake Wales High School’s 2022 FHSAA 4A state softball runner-up and 2023 FHSAA 4A state champion teams. Smith was named to the 2022 and 2023 All-Polk County Teams. In addition, Smith was an IB certificate recipient.
Indian River State College competes in NJCAA Region 8 as a member of the Citrus Conference. The Cirtus Conference is comprised of Indian River State College; Eastern Florida State College; Florida Southwestern State College; State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota; Seminole State College of Florida; College of Central Florida; Daytona State College; Polk State College; Santa Fe College; Hillsborough Community College; St. Petersburg College and Miami Dade College.
A standout on the field and in the classroom, Smith is majoring in business.
