Three vie for Miss Magoffin

The Miss Magoffin County Scholarship Pageant will be held on Saturday, October 23, at 8:00 p.m. at the Prater’s Fort Cabin Complex in Salyersville. Miss Magoffin County 2019-2021, Brooklyn Faith Poe will say farewell to her amazing years of service. The theme for this year’s pageant is “Dancing Queen” and will feature Miss Magoffin and other local entertainers Emceeing the pageant will be Magoffin County’s own Jim Caldwell, weatherman at WKYT-TV in Lexington and his morning news colleague, Andrea Walker.

Director Jincy Bailey is excited to have three beautiful ladies competing for the title of Miss Magoffin County 2021-2022.They are:

Contestant No. 1 is Alexandria Madison Russell. She is the 22-year-old daughter of Larry and Freda Russell of Salyersville. She is majoring in Dental Hygiene at Big Sandy Community & Technical College and wants to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree and become a Dental Hygiene Instructor. Her social impact initiative is “Anxiety and Depression Awareness”. For her talent, Alexandria will perform a lyrical dance routine to “Make You Feel My Love” by Adele.

Contestant No. 2 is Kennedy Bethann Garrett. She is the 23-year-old daughter of Connie Minix of Salyersville. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting & Management from the University of Pikeville. She is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands and wants to begin a career as a teacher. Her social impact initiative is “Domestic Violence and Children – There’s No Excuse for Abuse”. For her talent, Kennedy will perform a lyrical dance to Kelly Clarkson’s “Because of You”.

Contestant No. 3 is Isabella Nashae Cole. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Tucker and Rita Cole of Salyersville. A Senior at Magoffin County High School, after graduation, she plans to attend Morehead State University, obtain a Bachelor’s Degree and pursue music. Her social impact initiative is “ADHD Awareness”. For her talent, Isabella will sing her rendition of “Wrong Side of Memphis” by Trisha Yearwood while accompanying herself on guitar.

The winner of Miss Magoffin County will advance to the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Pageant, a franchise of the Miss America Pageant, to be held in the summer of 2022 in Louisville, KY.

The Pageant can be seen live on Howard’s Cable (Channel 62); on Foothills Communications (Channel 4) and on Ritt Mortimer’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

    it is unfortunate that all three cannot win.
