HYDEN — Freshman athlete Blake Wireman and senior linebacker Curtis Jenkins earned top honors for Magoffin County in the Grace Health Veterans Classic on Friday, Sept. 6.
Wireman was named Magoffin County’s Offensive Player of the Game.
Jenkins was named Magoffin County’s Defensive Player of the Game.
Magoffin County met Leslie County in the Grace Health Veterans Classic.
Wireman led Magoffin County defensively, scoring two touchdowns for the Hornets.
Among the top young high school football athletes in Eastern Kentucky, Wireman delivered one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown.
Jenkins led Magoffin County defensively, ranking as the Hornets’ leading tackler. A longtime leader, Jenkins is among the top all-time tacklers for the Magoffin County football program.
The Hornets are scheduled to host Russell for Homecoming on Friday, Sept. 13.
