SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County sophomore running back Blake Wireman has surpassed 1,000 rushing yards.
Wireman reached the milestone during Magoffin County’s Class 3A, District 8 game at Estill County on Friday, Sept. 26. Among the top high school running backs in the state regardless of class, Wireman rushed 33 times for 259 yards and two touchdowns in the Class 3A, District 8 game versus Estill County.
Through the first six games of the 2025 high school football season, Wireman has rushed 134 times for 1,032 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Currently, Wireman is averaging 172 yards and two touchdowns on the ground per game for the Hornets.
As a freshman in the 2024 high school football season, Wireman rushed 190 times for 1,415 yards and 13 touchdowns. Wireman averaged 141.5 rushing yards and 1.3 rushing touchdowns per game during his freshman campaign. He scored 9.2 points per game as a freshman.
The productive Wireman is leading Magoffin County in scoring for a second straight year. Wireman is averaging 13.3 points per game for Magoffin County in the 2025 high school football season.
Magoffin County is set to host Powell County for its second straight Class 3A, District 8 game on Friday, Oct. 3.
