Ronald Watkins, age 81, a resident of Hazel Green, Kentucky; passed away Monday, September 7, 2026 at ARH Hospital in West Liberty, Kentucky.
Born June 2, 1945, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, he is the son of the late Albert and Cassie Cole Watkins. Wife, Bonnie Sturdivant Watkins, brothers; Raleigh Watkins, Lonnie Watkins, Lee Watkins, Tollie Watkins, Ollie Watkins, Forster Watkins, Edmond Watkins. Sisters; Jewel Watkins, Velvie Prater, Flora Spaulding, Orie Watkins, Dorie Watkins, Opal Sparks and Agalean Helton also preceded in death.
Ronald was such a huge blessing to his entire family and all that knew and loved him.
Those left to mourn daughters, Ruby Grisby, of West Liberty, Kentucky, Cassie and husband Harold McCarty of Salyersville, Kentucky, son, Joesph Watkins and Tracy Hughes of Lakeland Florida, special nephew, Wesley Watkins of West Liberty, Kentucky, special niece, Vonda Bailey of Salyersville, Kentucky, sisters, Donna Helton of Salyersville, Kentucky, Debbie Prater of Salyersville, Kentucky, a Sister-In-Law, Paula Jones of Arizona, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services for Ronald Watkins will be conducted Friday, September 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM from the chapel of the Salyersville Funeral Home in Salyersville, Kentucky. Clergy Doug Auxier will deliver comforting words on the day of service. Interment will follow in the Hazel Green Cemetery in Hazel Green, Kentucky. The family will welcome friends Thursday, 10:00 AM till 10:00 PM, and any time prior to funeral services.
