SALYERSVILLE – Sophomore guard Aden Barnett poured in a game-high 43 points to lead Magoffin County over visiting Pike County Central 86-77 on Tuesday, March 9.
Thriving offensively, Barnett was 14-of-19 from inside the arc.
Magoffin County shot 54 percent (27-of-50) from the field. The Hornets were 5-of-10 (50 percent) from 3-point range.
Magoffin County shot 75 percent (27-of-36) from the free throw line.
Recording a double-double for Magoffin County, Ben Lafferty scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Lafferty was 6-of-7 from the free throw line.
Joining Barnett and Lafferty in double figures for the Hornets, Isaiah Salyer netted 12 points.
Chipping n offensively for Magoffin County, Grayson Whitaker (seven points), Zane Whitaker (five points), Caleb Wilson (two points), Ethan Prewitt (two points) and Kaden Bowling (one point) provided the Hornets’ additional scoring.
Pike County Central shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the field. The Hawks were 10-of-22 from 3-point range, shooting 45.5 percent beyond the arc.

Recording a double-double as part of another productive performance, Josh Du Toit scored 25 points and hauled 11 rebounds to pace Pike County Central. Du Toit was 6-of-11 from inside the arc.
Accompanying Du Toit in double figures in scoring for the Hawks, Bryce Adkins netted 16 points and Jaylan Rigdon contributed 14 points.
Rounding out Pike County Central’s individual scoring, Peyton Compton (eight points), Kasope Lawrence (six points), Jaden Stewart (five points) and Latee Childress (two points) each made an impact offensively.
