SALYERSVILLE — Magoffin County senior guard Aden Barnett has been named the 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year.
The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC) honored Barnett.
Among the top athletes in the state, Barnett averaged 29.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for Magoffin County during the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball regular season. In 26 regular season games, Barnett scored 765 points and claimed 145 rebounds.
A longtime leader for the Hornets, Barnett has scored over 3,000 points in his high school career.
The player of the year honorees from across the state are as follows: Region 1 – Connor Miller (McCracken County), Region 2 – Travis Perry (Lyon County), Region 3 – Elijah Decker (Ohio County), Region 4 (tie) – Mason Ritter (Bowling Green), Region 4 (tie) – Kade Unseld (Warren Central), Region 5 (tie) – Brett Decker (Central Hardin), Region 5 (tie) – Ayden Evans (Elizabethtown), Region 6 – Dayton Williams (Butler), Region 7 – Quel’Ron House (Seneca), Region 8 – Max Green (Oldham County), Region 9 (tie) – Caden Miller (Covington Catholic), Region 9 (tie) – Nathan Vinson (Highlands), Region 10 – Kylan Hinson (Augusta), Region 11 – Tyler Doyle (Lexington Catholic), Region 12 – Ben Godby (Somerset), Region 13 – Trent Noah (Harlan County), Region 14 – Peyton Dixon (Letcher County Central), Region 15 – Aden Barnett (Magoffin County), Region 16 – Adam Hargett (Fleming County).
