Dewey Douglas “Doug” Holbrook age 69 of Ezel, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, January 04, 2023 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was born July 13, 1953 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Dewey Kel Holbrook and Nora Eva Burton Holbrook. He was the husband of Carol Sue Holbrook, who survives. Survivors also include one son, Kenneth Dewey (Melissa) Holbrook of Salyersville, Kentucky, one daughter, Shuavon Gamble of West Liberty, Kentucky.
Doug has four grandchildren, Shonda Raye (Brian) Owens, ShaKoda Danielle (Jacquelyn) Ledford, Abby Marie Holbrook, and Kenan Drake Holbrook. Two great grandchildren, Bryson Allen Owens and Rayelynn Massey Owens, one brother, Wilbur Lee (Teresa) Holbrook of Salyersville, Kentucky, four sisters, Brenda Sue (Bobby) Ulery of Owingsville, Kentucky, Betty Lou Jackson of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Lillian Maxine (Jackie) Prater of Salyersville, Kentucky, and Eva (Chuck) Riddle of Owingsville, Kentucky.
Doug was the epitome of a family man, he enjoyed his family more than anything, especially the grandchildren. Doug had many jobs in his lifetime from construction, farmer, and heavy machinery operator. He was a Deacon of the Elk Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Doug was also a member of the Salyersville Masonic Lodge #769.
In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Rae Holbrook, two brothers, Robert Holbrook, Scotty Wayne Holbrook, and one sister, Patricia “Patty” Minix.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 07, 2023 from the Magoffin County Funeral Chapel with Paul Hiner officiating. Burial followed in the Patrick-Lovely Cemetery at Johnson Fork, Kentucky.
Masonic rites were conducted Friday evening from the Magoffin County Funeral Home by the Salyersville Lodge #769 F&AM.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Magoffin County Funeral Home.
