SALYERSVILLE – The Magoffin County Fiscal Court met in special session on Tuesday, June 30, conducting business to prepare for the new fiscal year.
The court approved appropriation transfers for the 2026 fiscal year to balance the budget at the end of the fiscal year.
They also approved to renew the employee insurance plans for the fiscal court and sheriff’s office and other voluntary insurances for fiscal year 2027 with KACo Benefits Group. They explained the coverage will stay the same and it had increased at one of the lower rates across the state.
The court approved a three-year contract with Thomas Shelby & Company, Inc., for chairs in Magoffin County 911. That is something the county has been doing for a while, providing new chairs each year for dispatch, which is staffed 24/7. The contract cost is roughly $8,000 total to supply new chairs for dispatchers for three years.
The fiscal court approved the salary schedule for the 2027 fiscal year.
The next regularly scheduled Magoffin County Fiscal Court meeting is tentatively slated for July 21 at 6 p.m. in the Magoffin County Courthouse Albert Patrick Building.
