SOFT SHELL — Magoffin County archer Chance Gipson finished first in the King of the Mountain Bullseye and 3D Tournaments at the Knott County Sportsplex on Saturday, Feb. 4.
As a team, Magoffin County placed second in the Bullseye Tournament.
Leading the Hornets, Gipson was the top overall male in the event.
Following Gipson, Magoffin County teammate Blake Collinsworth placed second in each tournament.
Abigail Skaggs placed second for Magoffin County in the high school girls’ division of the King of the Mountain 3D Tournament.
Recording another top-five finish for Magoffin County, Chloe Skaggs placed fifth in the King of the Mountain 3D Tournament’s high school girls’ division.
Herald Whitaker Middle School placed second in the King of the Mountain 3D Tournament.
Jorden Gayheart (Third, Middle School Boys Bullseye), Taylor Elkins (Fifth, Middle School Boys Bullseye) and Ashley Gayheart (Fifth, Middle School Girls Bullseye) were the top individual finishers for Herald Whitaker in the 3D event.
Herald Whitaker placed second in the King of the Mountain Bullseye Tournament, which featured numerous area middle school and high school teams competing in separate divisions. Leading the middle school team, Elkins finished first individually in the King of the Mountain Bullseye Tournament.
