Hornets blank Betsy Layne, 4-0

SALYERSVILLE — Returning to the win column, Magoffin County blanked visiting Betsy Layne 4-0 in a high school baseball game on Tuesday, May 10.

Magoffin County senior Lucas Litteral pitched a two-hit shutout and claimed the win on the mound. Limited opposing batters throughout the high school baseball matchup, Litteral gave up only two walks while registering 18 strikeouts.

Offensively, Magoffin County scored four runs on nine hits. Ethan Salyer and Alex Hibbins recorded two hits apiece for the Hornets. Contributing to Magoffin County’s offensive attack, Colin Litteral, Kaden Litteral, Kaden Back, Lucas Litteral and Ian McCarty connected for one hit each.

Salyer delivered two RBIs while McCarty and Colin Litteral each drove in one run.

The Hornets beat Betsy Layne after dropping a game to the Bobcats earlier in the 2022 high school baseball season.

Magoffin County is scheduled to visit Belfry for a regular season finale on Thursday, May 12. First pitch for the Magoffin County-Belfry game is set for 6 p.m..
