SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County doubled up visiting Martin County 8-4 in a 57th District baseball game on Thursday, May 6.
The win allowed Magoffin County to sweep a 57th District baseball series from rival Martin County.
Ethan Prewitt pitched a complete game for the Hornets, picking up the win on the mound. Over seven innings, Prewitt allowed four runs on four hits while giving up four walks.
The Hornets pushed across eight runs on seven hits during the 57th District baseball matchup.
Ethan Salyer led Magoffin County at the plate. Salyer finished 3-for-4 with one RBI.
In addition to Salyer thriving at the plate, Lucas Litteral (2-for-2), Caleb Howard (1-for-2, two RBIs), Kaden Back (1-for-3, one RBI), Grant Rudd (1-for-3), Ian Prewitt (one RBI), Caleb Wilson (one RBI) and Trenton Coleman (one RBI) delivered offensively or the Hornets in the district win.
Extra-base hits helped to pace the Hornets. Salyer and Litteral each doubled while Howard tripled.
Both Magoffin County and Martin County will compete in the 57th District Baseball Tournament in less than three weeks.
