SALYERSVILLE – Turning in a dominant performance, Magoffin County rolled past visiting Martin County 15-0 in three innings in a 57th District softball game on Thursday, April 22.
The Hornets moved runners around the bases throughout the 57th District softball game.
Jaden Williams led the Hornets in the circle, holding Martin County hitless. Williams recorded four strikeouts in three innings as she claimed the pitching win.
Thriving offensively, Magoffin County plated 15 runs on 16 hits.
Williams (3-for-3, two RBIs), Ashlyn Patrick (3-for-3, three RBIs), Scarlett McCarty (3-for-3, two RBIs), Emilee Bailey (3-for-3), Holly Handshoe (2-for-3, two RBIs), Rylie Castle (1-for-3, three RBIs), Jaylynn Lafferty (1-for-2) and Katie Howard (two RBIs) each contributed at least one hit at the plate for the Hornets. In addition, Presley Smith, Karah Lafferty and Kaylee Morrison delivered offensively for homestanding Magoffin County.
Williams homered for Martin County in the district win.
Contributing another extra-base hit in the Hornets’ district triumph, Handshoe doubled.
The Hornets met 57th District counterpart Martin County for the first time in the 20201 high school softball season.
Both Magoffin County and Martin County are slated to compete in the 57th District Softball Tournament in late-May.
