PAINTSVILLE – Visiting Magoffin County suffered its second straight loss as Johnson Central pulled away to win 14-5 in a 57th District baseball game on Wednesday, April 28.

Mason Kestner started on the mound for the Golden Eagles and earned the win. Kestner allowed four runs on four hits while giving up five walks and recording two strikeouts in three and one-third innings.

Chandler Spradlin closed the game out on the mound for Johnson Central, pitching three and two-thirds innings. Spradlin allowed one run on three hits, giving up only one walk and recording eight strikeouts.

Homestanding Johnson Central plated 14 runs on 10 hits.

Kestner (2-for-3, two RBIs), Conner Lemaster (2-for-3, one RBI), Ryan Sartin-Slone (2-for-3, four RBIs), Cameron Kelsey (1-for-3), Matt Crum (1-for-4, one RBI), Gavin Crum (1-for-3, two RBIs), Keygan Pelfrey (1-for-3) and Brock Butcher (one RBI) delivered offensively for the Golden Eagles in the district victory. Sartin-Slone homered for Johnson Central while Lemaster doubled and tripled.

Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Kestner doubled for the Golden Eagles as part of a balanced offensive attack.

Kaden Bowling started on the mound for the Hornets and took the loss. Bowling allowed six runs on five hits while walking one and striking out one in two and two-thirds innings.

In addition to Bowling pitching for Magoffin County, Caleb Howard, Grant Rudd and Trenton Coleman put in work on the mound during the district matchup.

Ian Prewitt led Magoffin County at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Contributing offensively for the Hornets, Howard, Coleman and Colin Litteral added one hit apiece.

Both Magoffin County and Johnson Central will compete in the 57th District Baseball Tournament in less than one month.
