Hornets fall to Johnson Central in 57th District game

Johnson Central shot 45.3 percent (24-of-53) from the field.

The Golden Eagles were 10-of-22 (45.5 percent) from 3-point range.

Johnson Central shot 69.2 percent (18-of-26) from the free throw line.

Isaiah May recorded a game-high double-double to lead Johnson Central to the district win, scoring 29 points and registering 10 rebounds.

Accompanying May in double figures in scoring for the Golden Eagles, Cory VanHoose netted 17 points and John King logged 10 points.

Ryleh McKenzie (six points), Grant Rice (six points), Toby Spriggs (two points), Bryson Hackney (two points), Mason Lawson (two points) and Josh Slone (two points) accounted for the rest of Johnson Central’s scoring in the district matchup.

Magoffin County shot 46.8 percent (22-of-47) from the field.

The Hornets were 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) from 3-point range.

Magoffin County shot 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the free throw line.

Continuing to lead Magoffin County, Aden Barnett scored a team-high 23 points for the Hornets. Barnett connected on 9-of-16 shots from inside the arc.

Magoffin County featured three scorers in double figures.

Following Barnett, Isaiah Salyer added 19 points for the Hornets.

Accompanying Barnett and Salyer in double figures for Magoffin County, Grayson Whitaker posted 11 points.

Along with the trio in double figures, Ethan Prewitt (three points), Brennan Hanson (two points), Zane Whitaker (two points) and Kaden Bowling (one point) provided scoring for the Hornets.
