Hornets limited in loss to Cougars

BUCKLEYS CREEK — Magoffin County was limited at the plate as Letcher County Central pulled away to win 16-1 in three innings during the 2A, Section 8 Baseball Tournament at Pike County Central High School on Wednesday, April 10.

Jayden Wright started on the mound for Letcher County Central and earned the win. Wright pitched two innings and recorded four strikeouts.

Pitching in relief for Letcher County Central, Andrew Little claimed the save. Little pitched one inning for the Cougars.

Isaac Howard suffered the loss on the mound for the Hornets. Along with Howard, Cayden Russell and Parker Bowling pitched for 15th Region member Magoffin County.

Letcher County Central, a member of the 16th Region, scored 16 runs on six hits. Wright (one hit, two RBIs), Little (one RBI), Quinton Williams (three hits, two RBIs), Dawson Kincer (one hit, two RBIs), Keaton Maggard (one hit, one RBI) and Mason Boggs (one RBI) each aided Letcher County Central in its 15-run win.

Ethan Salyer and Ian McCarty collected one hit apiece for the Hornets. McCarty doubled and drove in Magoffin County’s lone run, allowing Salyer to score.
