Hornets roll past Robertson County in five innings, 13-3

SALYERSVILLE – Magoffin County gradually pulled away to beat visiting Robertson County 13-3 in five innings in a high school baseball game on Saturday, May 22.

Trenton Coleman started on the mound and earned the win for the Hornets. Coleman pitched two innings, allowing three runs on two hits while recording three strikeouts.

Colin Litteral closed the game out on the mound for Magoffin County. Litteral pitched three innings, allowing two hits and giving up one walk while holding Robertson County scoreless and registering two strikeouts.

Joshua Pilosky and Carter Jefferson split time on the mound for the Black Devils, pitching three innings and one inning, respectively.
Magoffin County plated 13 runs on 11 hits.

Coleman (2-for-3, three RBIs), Kaden Back (3-for-3), Caleb Howard (2-for-3), Shawn Salyer (2-for-3, three RBIs), Ethan Salyer (1-for-2, one RBI) and Ian McCarty (1-for-3) contributed at the plate for the Hornets.

Back drilled two doubles while Coleman delivered one double.

Robertson County, a team from the 10th Region, plated three runs on nine hits. Eli Dotson (3-for-3 three RBIs) and Donnie Brierly (2-for-2) combined to lead Robertson County at the plate.

The Hornets returned to the win column following back-to-back losses to 14th Region members Breathitt County and Knott County Central.
