SALYERSVILLE — Senior guard Aden Barnett poured in a game-high 37 points and claimed five rebounds to lead Magoffin County over Paintsville 67-53 in a 57th District boys’ basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The Hornets defeated the Tigers for the second time in 24 hours.
Magoffin County shot 44 percent (22-of-50) from the field. The Hornets made six of 21 three-point field goal attempts.
Magoffin County shot 89.5 percent (17-of-19) from the free throw line.
Joining Barnett in double figures for Magoffin County, Grayson Whitaker scored 11 points. Whitaker made three of 10 three-point field goal attempts.
Contributing to Magoffin County’s district win, Ethan Salyer scored seven points while Zane Whitaker netted six points.
Rounding out Magoffin County’s scoring, Walker Russell added four points and Reed Meadows contributed two points.

The Hornets shot 53.3 percent (24-of-45) from the field. Magoffin County made two of 11 three-point field goal attempts.
The Hornets shot 70 percent (seven-of-10) from the free throw line.
Aden Barnett scored a game-high 29 points to lead Magoffin County to the district win.
Following Barnett in scoring for Magoffin County, Grayson Whitaker netted 14 points.
Whitaker paced Magoffin County inside, clearing out five rebounds.
Contributing to the win, Zane Whitaker (six points), Walker Russell (four points), Ethan Salyer (two points) and Noah Sammons (two points) provided Magoffin County’s additional scoring.
